Day 1: Cusco – Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu – Aguas Calientes – Cusco

We will begin the first day of the trip with an early morning pick-up from your hotel (6 AM) and transfer to the train station to depart at 6.50 AM (or 6.05 AM for those with the Vistadome option) on route to Aguas Calientes.

We will arrive in Aguas Calientes at approx. 11.00 AM (or around 10.00 for the Vistadome). Upon our arrival to Aguas Calientes, we will go with our guide, who will take us directly to the bus station to go up to Machu Picchu right away.

It will be a scenic 30 minute ride by bus to get up to the altitude of the Sacred City. Once there, the guide will explain to us all that is the rich history of this majestic citadel, Machu Picchu. He will regale us of all that we have learned about their ancient civilization.

Afterwards, we will have another couple of hours to explore on our own. If you choose to, it will also be possible to go on the trail to the top of Waynu Picchu (1 ½ hour round trip) to get an amazing view of the Machu Picchu. After our exploring time, we will come back down to Aguas Calientes by means of bus and our guide will take us back to the train station for our 5.00 PM (or 3.25 PM) departure back to Cusco. We will arrive back in Cusco at around 9.30 PM (or 7.45 PM for Vistadome) that same night.

Vistadome – This, the luxery option, offers faster arrival, more comfortable accomodations, and even has a snack available for the trip. This train is equipped with panoramic style windows to offer a better view of the jungle passing by outside.

Backpacker Express – This is a brand new service that is offered to our more adventurous passenger who would like comfort and security, but none of the extra frills. There is also an additional storage room for extra trekking equipment.

• Transfer from your hotel to the train station.
• Train from Cusco to Aguas Calientes and then the return to Cusco again.
• Tourist Bus from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu and return to Aguas Calientes
• Entrance fee to Machu Picchu
• Guided tour by a professional, bilingual tour guide
• Transfer from the train station back to your hotel

Notes:

• We ask that you please be ready for the transfer from you hotel 45 minutes before the train departure so as to not delay the transfer of the other passengers.
• Not included in the price, but available if desired is a 9$ Buffett lunch in Aguas Calientes
• You must take your Student ISIC card along with you in order to recieve the student discount.
• Remember, you have to take your bus down to Aguas Calientes from Machu Pichu 1 hour before the departure time of your return train.
