Sacred Valley Tour
Daily Departures at 8:30 AM
Itinerary:
After meeting briefly at the office, we will be loaded up into our private transport, and then off we will go. It will be a scenic, 50 minute ride to our first destination, Pisac. Pisac is a very popular pueblo in the middle of the Sacred Valley and is most known for its Marketplace (especially on Sundays). We will have a chance to visit their marketplace upon our arrival to the Valley. Once there you will have the option to buy anything from Alpaca clothing to local artesianales, which are great for souvenirs or gifts.
After leaving the Marketplace, we will then venture up into the hills behind Pisac where we will come to our first Inca Site of the day. Our guide will take us through the ruins explaining the history of the site for us and answering any questions that we may have.
We will then continue on to our next destination, Urubamba, which is known as the capital of the Sacred Valley and has the most residents. We will just be stopping through Urubamba to have a quick, typical lunch at a local restaurant. Continuing on, we will then go on another 30 minute bus ride to get on to the main stop of the tour, Ollantaytambo. Here, we will find some very extensive ruins to explore.
Ollantaytambo, which transelates to “citadel” or “fortress”, was used in the time of the Incas as a security post, and has a rich history to be learned, which our guide will be happy to explain to us.
We will spend a couple of hours here before continuing on our journey. The last stop of the tour will be at the beautiful church located in the pueblo, Chinchero. We will only stop here for a short time to receive a brief explanation of the town and the church itself. It is only another half hour ride back to Cusco from here, and we should arrive around 6 PM.
Price Includes:
- A guided tour by our professional, bilingual tour guide.
- Transport in private vehicle.
Notes:
It should be noted that the price does not include the price of the “Boleta Turistico”, tourist ticket, which can be bought at the OFEC office on Ave. Del Sol. It can be purchased for 70 soles for the full ticket (16 sites and valid for 10 days), or it is also possible to buy half of a ticket for 35 soles, which will only grant you entrance to the sites on this tour.
“Be sure to try out our City tour as well, in order to get all of the main Cusco tourist sites as well. Just another way to spend your day while learning about the history of the “Magical City”.
