Mountain Biking
Daily Departures at 9.00 am
We have added two of the most popular bicycle routes around town. One for the surrounding Cusco area, and one to go into the Sacred Valley. Both options are exhilerating experiences and fantastic ways to spend a day here in Peru.
1 Day: Moderate - Difficult (27 kilometers)
Chinchero - Lake Huaypo - Maras - Moray- Salineras - Pichingoto - Urubamba
This route includes parts that could be considered to be of moderate experience. You will be transported to the "rock fields" of Chinchero to start your journey. From there you will pass by the small, but popular, Chinchero.
Passing by you will undoubtably see locals walking with their livestock, or perhaps with their Alpacas. From Chinchero is a nice a pleasant downhill ride down to Moray, passing "the peaceful lake", Lake Huaypo along the way.
Moray is the home of the famous Inca Site, "the labrotory", so called because it was used by the Incas as an experiment to test the affects of altitude on different crops. From Moray we will continue along the route to Maras, which contains some steep sections.
We will be going on a deep descent into the magestic Sacred Valley of the Incas. Pure downhill riding, passing through the famous Salineras, which are still in use today and have been in use since pre-hispanic times. The breathtaking views of the Vilcanota Mountain Range will astound anyone who looks upon it.
Upon your arrival to the valleys´ floor you will come across the "quaint", little pueblo, Pichingoto. From there is a beautiful tour, riding through the Sacred Valley of the Incas, to the main pueblo of the valley, Urubamba. From there you will be transported back to Cusco by means of private transportation.
˝ Day: Moderate - Experienced Route
Puca Pucara -Tambomachay - Qorao Pass - Yuncaypata- Santa Maria - Larapa
After meeting in our office, we will be transported by private van up into the hills overlooking Cusco, to the Inca Site, Puca Pucara. From there we will follow a path towards another well known site, Tambomachay.
In passing, you will see ruins on your sides and mountains in front of you, and Cusco behind you as you swerve through the mountain routes and onto the next, and most popular part of this tour, Yuncaypata. Yuncaypata is an area well known amongst local bikers as one of the most popular and used routes around the district. With well beaten paths to follow, it is pure descent into the beautiful Cusco district, Santa Maria. Never have you seen such an amazing area for off road biking.
This area was made for downhill biking. And on downwards to the finishing point, Larapa, where you will take a public transport back to Cusco.
