Horse Back Tours

HORSE BACK RIDINGDaily Departures at 8:30 am or 1:30 pm

First, we will all meet in the office at 9:30 and for a quick briefing before the trip. We will all take a private transport to the ranch where the horses will be waiting for us. From here the routes are different, depending on the length of the trip that you have chosen. We offer 3 different choices: 3 hours, 4 hours (most popular) and 6 hours. Each choice has it´s own qualities, but they are all very relaxing journies and each has it´s own ruins and views to see. If you are interested in entering the ruins, then it is recommended that you buy a tourist ticket (75 soles adults, 35 w/ ISIC which is valid for 10 and 16 sites or 40 soles for a partial ticket which will take you to these specific sites only, and is only valid for 1 day).

3 hours

We will leave the ranch and first, we will go through the spacious areas through the mountain tops to pass over the ruins  of Qenko, which transelates in Quechua to " ślabyrinth". We will pass through areas of  light forest as we continue on to the Temple of the Moon, which was used as a moon observatory by the Incas and is a very popular site.  Afterwards, we will go on a descent towards the smaller ruins of Cusilluchayoc, which is a smaller, but still very mystical Inca site.  We will then begin our return to the ranch by means of a different route, which will take us past the famous Inca site, Sachsaywaman, which is the most popular of all the Cusco ruins  We will take you just to the ranch and then from there, you can walk back down to San Cristobal, which is a pleasant walk to take so that you can pass by the church, San Cristóbal which has a beautiful view of the city, or you can take a taxi back down the city.

4 hours

HORSE BACK RIDING TOURThis trip also leaves from the ranch and will take us over the ruins of Qenko. We will get a wonderful view of the ruins, but if you would like to have a closer inspection, then you need the tourist ticket. After passing those ruins, we will follow a small dirt path, alongside a road, up to the next site, Puca Pucara, which transelates to The Red Gate, and is called that because it was used as the controlled entrance to the city of Cusco in the days of the Incas. We will pass just by the ruins as we are on our way to Tambomachay, which was something of an Inca bath house, and was also used for the worship of water. Then we will begin our return, passing through a eucalyptus forest on the way. Finally, before we reach the ranch, we will pass by the famous Inca temple, Sachsaywaman, which is where the Incas worshipped lightning. Our service ends at the ranch, and so we can take public transportation back to Cusco, but the walk down is recommended so that we can pass by the church, San Cristobal and it´s gorgous view of the city. Make sure you have a camara.

6 hours

This, the longest of the 3 tours, begins at the ranch, like the rest of the tours. We will first pass by the Qenko ruins and have some wonderful photo oppurtunities as we pass by on our way to the "Red Gate", Puca Pucara. Here is where the 6 hour tour takes a different route. You will take a deeper route into the mountainous regions surrounding Cusco, so you will be going up more hills and therefore will find some even more breath taking views of the city and the mountains around you. You will arrive at the highest point, Abra de Ccoroo, and then begin your downward descent. We will pass by the village of Pumamarca, which has a high significance in the world of the Incas because it was used as a burial site for the queen of the King Pachacutec. We will also see a sacred house where the first floor is of the typical Imperial Inca architecture, but the second floor has been modernized. After that, we will continue your descent back to the city. When we arrive at the end, we will leave our horses with the guide and take public transportation back to down town.
